8 tips for managing your pregnancy at work

by Rebecca Odes – babble.com

1: Know your rights

Know your rights Maternal and paternal rights vary by state and by company, so you’ll want to look into the specifics before you figure out your plan. (If you work for a larger company, the Family And Medical Leave Act gives you the right to take off up to 12 weeks for maternity leave and return to your job.) Speak with people who have experience with your company’s maternity leave policy; the way things are written is not always how they unfold.

2: Keeping the pregnancy quiet until you’re ready

Keeping the pregnancy quiet until you’re ready Maybe you feel comfortable talking about your pregnancy while still in the first trimester, but with people you’re not ready to tell the news to, be creative (especially if you’ve got obvious pregnancy symptoms to conceal). Try wearing larger-sized, looser clothing and use little white lies (no that’s not nausea, that’s indigestion) until you’re ready to ‘fess up.

3: Breaking the news

Breaking the news How you tell your colleagues will depend on your work environment and your plans and goals. Do you know what you’ll want to do after the baby is born? It’ll be the first thing on everyone’s mind. Your boss may be thrilled for you, but she’ll want to know your maternity leave plans and when you hope to return to work. And keep in mind that telling her sooner rather than later is best.

4: Managing co-worker and client relationships

Managing co-worker and client relationships Apt or not, your coworkers may worry your pregnancy will affect your work. Reassure them that you can still be an efficient employee. (Unless you can’t, and we’ll talk about that possibility later.) And, if you don’t think you’re going to be able to keep up with client needs while pregnant, consider sharing the workload with someone. Yes, there’s a risk but if you don’t provide backup, you could lose them altogether. Say “uncle” before things fall through the cracks.

5: Staying focused on your work

Staying focused on your work When you’re pregnant it’s sometimes hard to think about anything else. Since you can’t quell your anticipatory thoughts entirely, take breaks to delve into all things pregnancy and baby, like baby names, for example. These breaks should free up more energy for other things at other times — like the work you’re being paid to do.

6: Handling unsafe work conditions

Handling unsafe work conditions Unfortunately, there are few protections for pregnant women in physically dangerous work situations. You might be able to choose to take medical leave to protect your pregnancy or speak with your supervisor and arrange a temporary reallocation of responsibilities. Although companies are required to treat pregnancy like any other medical condition, your employer has no legal responsibility to retain you if you are not doing the work you were hired to do. Your benefits depend on your company.

7: What if your workplace isn’t so supportive?

What if your workplace isn’t so supportive? Companies check the bottom line, so if you want to keep your job you’ll need to prove that your pregnancy will not interfere with your ability to crank out the work. But pregnancy can create interferences to your productivity, so you may need some strategies to make up the lost time or at least to look like you’re as successful as ever.

8: When — or whether — to come back after the baby’s born

When—or whether—to come back after the baby’s born For many moms, no amount of pre-baby planning can prepare them for after the baby is born. Die-hard working girls may find themselves totally repulsed by the idea of leaving their babies, while would-be stay-at-home moms can feel desperate to return to the world of adults. Tune into your feelings and keep the conversation flowing with your partner. Really, it comes down to what works for your family and
for you.

The differentiators in a dressy blouse has a lot to do with the material details. These women's blouses don't necessarily have to be flashy. Instead they can be simple, but are set apart from an everyday casual blouse by details such as cut, embellishment, fabric, pattern, material, or other detail.

While casual tees, polos, and other clothing definitely have a stable place in a woman’s wardrobe collection, are also essentials for special events. The differentiators in a dressy blouse has a lot to do with the material details. These women’s blouses don’t necessarily have to be flashy. Instead they can be simple, but are set apart from an everyday casual blouse by details such as cut, embellishment, fabric, pattern, material, or other detail. Take for example a classic ladies’ button-down blouse. In a cotton blend with regular buttons, this blouse is the perfect partner for a sexy suit, or can be cute and casual paired with slacks and a great pullover sweater. Take the same blouse, however, in a satin fabric with pearl buttons, and you have something more fashionable.

Occasions for dress blouses are many. Many women choose something a bit more special in a blouse for certain events. You might want a dressy blouse for a date out with your husband, night on the town, holiday party, baby shower, church, birthday parties – pretty much anything that requires a touch of spice and class. The neckline should be a low cut. The lower, the sexier, which may be perfect for a hot dinner date, but not quite so appropriate at church.

There is an endless supply of different styles of dress blouses available. In order to determine what’s right for you, consider several factors. First, the occasion can determine how dressy and eye-catching you want the blouse to be. Second, your body type should determine the most figure flattering blouse cut. Finally, your personal style are of utmost importance. If you want to wear the blouse, you must like it and feel emotionally attached to it. If it’s not really your fashion, you’ll likely wind up returning it to the store or leaving it to die in your closet.

Think about the season. While a sleeveless sequined cami may work well on a summer evening, it won’t look so great if you are constantly crossing your arms and shivering in the colder weather. Pick a blouse appropriate for the season and weather, or make sure to have a sweater, shawl, or wrap that complements and doesn’t detract from the beauty of the dressy blouse.

Features of dressy blouses include anything that helps the blouse stand out. Details like sequins, beading rhinestones, pearled or jeweled buttons, embellished necklines, ruffles, embroidery, or ties are all features that can help transform a blouse from boring to extraordinary. Pleating, cinched or tied up waists, and sheer layered looks are also common features in dressy tops. The fabrics are also very important – they are typically softer and more airy. Common fabrics for dressy blouses include rayon, silk, chiffon, taffeta, and satin.

The trick for most ladies is to create the look of a nice figure. Wrap style dress blouses are a popular style because they flatter all body types, making the waist appear thinner and giving a proportionate look. For pear shaped women, dressy tops with wide necklines, such as square or bateau styles work nicely. Volume on the upper portion of the body also works well for pear shapes, so look for styles with embellishment, ruffles, bustier styles or added details on the upper part of the body to create balance.

Everyone has their favorite boutique where they find dressy blouses. I have mine! But you should take some chances and shop around for yourself, you may just discover the perfect blouse!

Be Dynamic Through Speed Reading method, by Dr. Jay Polmar, is designed for those who read large volumes of printed material. Sometimes they get frustrated when they can’t keep up with all the intriguing literature that is released. Authors around the world produce printed data and fiction, at a rate so phenomenal, that even the most avid of readers struggle to keep up. With our DYNAMIC SPEED READING method, you’ll easily be able to read twice to three times the amount you now read in the same time.

The human brain/mind is capable of comprehending and cataloging from 10,000 to 50,000 units of information every minute (one unit being equal to one word) and this is based upon old statistics. Based on new technology in education and strides in self-development, your brain/mind is capable of much more.

The human body is a vehicle that records various senses and transfers them to the brain/mind. The brain/mind acts like a computer. Perhaps the brain/mind is the body’s operational computer to make easier for us to learn. We learn through information (data) which is transmitted in many ways. We receive data through our five physical senses, and our brain/mind makes decisions, choices and judgments from those factors.

The limitations in reading were programmed during childhood when we were first taught to read. Yet, brain/mind researchers have shown that through DYNAMIC SPEED READING techniques, thousands have broken that pattern and increased speeds dramatically.

This course teaches methods for becoming Dynamic. We expect you, minimally, to become a speed reader who loves to read and improve the quality of your life. Maximally, we expect great, positive successes from our students. A beginning average reading speed for the average American high school graduate is about 250 words per minute. Those from the south read somewhat slower because of their drawl. Those who stutter also read slower. An average college student reads approximately 300 w.p.m.

Please take note: Recent studies have indicated that the English reading rate has dropped due to poor education in the past decade. The reduction of reading speed is astounding averaging 35% poor reading rates in the US. Be Dynamic undoes the damage made by the poor education system and was developed by Dr. Jay Polmar, who studied in the US when education mean something special and reading was king.

Be Dynamic Through Speed Reading by Dr. Jay Polmar is now available on Amazon.com in printed and Kindle books and with the unique audio programming system that makes you the best student you can be.

Get straight A’s with Be Dynamic and learn to Be Dynamic through Speed Reading. This article, You Can Teach Yourself Speed Reading Right Now has free reprint rights.

As a trainer, I talk to men and women on a every day basis with regards to caloric numbers or nutritional content, but most folks must see the math to grasp the idea fully. Take a peek at how knowing the math of fitness can help you determine the correct weight loss plan.

As a personal trainer, I speak to individuals on a daily basis with regards to caloric numbers or nutritional content, but most folks have to see the math to grasp the idea fully. Take a peek at how being familiar with the math of fitness can help you determine the correct weight loss plan:

Suzy Q is a thirty-five year old, 150 pound women who is 5 foot. Her weight loss goals are two pounds in a week. Suzy Q eats 2500 calories a day and lives a sedentary lifestyle (see desk job).

Utilizing a standard formula we know that Suzy Q burns 1443 calories each day just due to the fact she is alive. This is her basal metabolic rate (BMR).

Let’s break down Suzy’s basic numbers:

2500 Calories consumed – 1433 BMR = 1057 Calories not burned

A quick world wide web search tells us an average person, living a sedentary way of life, burns 507 Calories:

1057 Calories left to burn – 507 Calories from sedentary lifestyle = 550 Calories not burned

On this course, she will gain weight. She has excess calories. We know that 3500 excess calories will make her gain 1 pound. Furthermore we know that 550 divides into 3500 6.three times. That means that in just over 6 weeks, poor Suzy is going to gain a pound. This is how those extra 5-10( or far more) pounds sneak up on an individual like Suzy without her even understanding.

What can Suzy do? The answer is straightforward, change the numbers.

Suzy is now going to eat 1500 Calories.

1500 Calories consumed – 1433 BMR = 57 Calories not burned

To reach her weight loss objective, Suzy is going to be a lot more active during her every day life

57 Calories not burned – 730 from moderately active lifestyle = 673 Additional calories burned

This means Suzy is going to burn 673 more calories than she uses on a daily basis. If we multiply 673 x 7 days of the week we get 4711 additional calories.

Suzy is also going to do:

Intense weight training twice a week at 450 calories per day: 900 calories

Run a total of 6 miles in a week: 567 calories

Walk a total of 6 miles in a week: 270 calories

Swim for an hour every week: 500 calories

Total: 2237 calories

If we add the extra calories that Suzy is burning on a daily basis to the number of calories she is burning from exercise, we get 6948 more calories every week that she is burning versus calories she is eating. Understanding that 3500 calories equals 1 pound, Suzy is going to lose about 2 lbs in a week.

The net result is that we all ought to be mindful of the “numbers”…our caloric intake versus our caloric usage. We know, from making sense of the numbers, that no weight loss plan is going to work within the long run without a practical fitness routine incorporated.

Atlanta personal trainers aims to produce a relaxed environment with individual exercise spaces, encouraging and knowledgeable staff, and a special ‘un-gym’ experience, and also promote a 360-degree technique to weight-loss in an appealing environment. Atlanta fitness frequently provides each member with customized nutrition and recovery coaching.

If you are at a loss for updating your wardrobe, consider adding some great pieces of silver jewelry. Nothing polishes up a look like necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and earrings. It’s these small extra items that really update any look.

No matter where you are going or how you need to dress, the added touches to your ensemble are very important. In an upscale setting like the prom or a wedding, using silver pieces set with rhinestones or gemstones is a fantastic choice. The silver really sets off the sparkle of a diamond or other light colored stone. Even the queen of England has a silver tiara!

When dressing in a traditional and laid back manner, such as donning jeans and a tank top, add some fun hoop earrings. You don’t have to always go with the round hoop either, try a fun geometrical shape like square or diamond. Toss in some chunky wrist bangles and you have instantly polished up the most casual of outfits. Want to make it even more dressy? Change into a fun platform shoe or kitten heel, clip in a sassy silver comb in your hair and you are ready for a fun night out!

Another great idea for dressing up a look is when you have that cocktail hour planned after work. You don’t have to change your clothing to go from office attire to night on the town! Simply switch out your jewelry and in just a few moments you have transformed your look. Take off your rhinestone stud earrings and slip on some long dangling ones instead. Pair up your watch with several eye catching bracelets. Add in a long necklace and you have just completed a full transformation from office girl to sexy siren!

When considering what accessories to use, don’t forget about what a statement a necklace can make. No matter what gender, a necklace can go a long way in expressing your personal style. Choosing different lengths and varieties says a lot about not just your outfit, but you as well. The charm you hang on it can show the world that you are a mom, in a relationship, or even say your name!

If you are shopping for a special person in your life, consider something traditional like a silver ring. Need something that’s more fun? Dangling earrings, hoops, studs, or cuff bracelets are an excellent choice. For something more traditional you can’t go wrong with an elegant watch or brooch.

Temperature and fitness will continually be linked. Different climates and changing seasons can cause individuals to lose or gain their commitment to fitness and weight loss. For instance, Atlanta during the summer might be unbearable to be outside. Contemplate the reality that most men and women who are working towards weight loss would rather be outside when they first begin their fitness program and this can mean a shaken fitness routine with the oppressing heat knocking many off their path. In New York the summers are hot, but bearable. The winters on the other hand are frigged. The fitness enthusiasts you would typically see running all over the city are sidelined by snow and icy winds, staying indoors on their couch and waiting to workout until spring.

To allow you to maintain your fitness plan on the forefront regardless of weather, look at these “must haves” when weather is an concern for your weight loss program:

Exercising in the summer time and in hot temperatures:

- Stay away from exercising mid-day: Incorporate your fitness routine in the morning hours or late afternoon hours when temperatures dip.

- Hydrate every 15-20 minutes: Hydration helps cleanse your system and promote weight loss so make certain you are hydrating properly by drinking water every single 15-20 minutes.

- Wear appropriate fitness gear for heat: In warm weather materials that wisk away moisture and keep your body cool are ideal. Consider wicking socks that draw away humidity and breathable clothing. Don’t forget a great hat or sun visor to protect against damaging sun rays.

- Cool Down: A correct cool down period is crucial to letting your body recover, especially when important fluids are lost. Hydrate, take a cool shower and slow down after an intense cardio routine.

Exercising in the winter or in cooler temperatures:

- Dress warmly. Don’t forget that extremities are the first things to lose heat. Mitts, socks and hats covering the head and ears are crucial for keeping required body heat in the body.

- Begin slowly. Injuries happen when muscles are cold and immediately go into action. Warm up slowly as you begin any kind of exercise and do not forget to stretch out again after your muscles are warm.

- Wear a good athletic shoe. The correct footwear can make all the difference when exercising outside or with your trainer. Make sure that your shoes are supportive, comfortable and stop injury. Had your shoes over a year? They begin to lose elasticity and support. Be certain you change your footwear yearly.

Exercising during All Months:

- Include weight training into your workout regimen: Weight training burns much more calories. You do not need to be a body builder throughout your fitness routine, but the more muscle you might have, the extra calories you burn, even while your body is at rest. You ought to also aim to make your weight training visits move as rapidly as feasible so they have a component of cardio added in. This will maximize your weight loss.

- Use a Fitness Expert: Should you do not really feel comfortable making a program yourself, use a fitness expert. Fitness trainers can get you began or push you through your workouts dependent on your personal requirements and weight loss desired goals. Personal trainers also limit injury which can happen at the beginning of your fitness routine or whenever you determine to take your exercise goals to a new level.

- Have a plan: It’s a lot less difficult to be constant when you have a plan. You must never go into a fitness regiment without your plan written down. Your plan needs a starting place, a finish line and bench marks. If your objective is weight loss, weigh yourselfin the very beginning of your program. Resume weighing every other Friday and set an end weight so you’ll know whenever you have reached your objective.

Now that summer is fully upon us lots of men and women will just head for the cool of the in the house and give up their exercise programs all together. While the heat can be intense and intimidating, implementing a couple of guidelines will allow you to easily continue your outdoor workout routine.

One Atlanta fitness trainer is no stranger to dealing with the extreme summer time conditions. “When I opened up my Atlanta fitness business, I came up with five uncomplicated tips to support clients through the blistering heat and humidity. They are uncomplicated, but incredibly needed, especially in Atlanta when the temperature easily rises over 95 every single day.”

5 Suggestions to ‘Beat the Heat’:

1. Bring a water bottle and sip about 4-8 oz . each and every 15-20 min. to stay hydrated. Drink prior to, during and after your workout. 2. Strategize on timing – as much as feasible, attempt to workout in the early morning or evening hours. The hottest times of the day are between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 3. Wear wicking socks and breathable sneakers to keep feet cool and dry. 4. Wear a lightweight hat to absorb head sweat and keep the sun out of your eyes. UV sunglasses also help protect harmful sun rays. 5. Tune in to your body and take breaks in case you need to – to put it simply, sit down prior to you fall down.

Exercising in the heat can wear you out prematurely and put a damper on your exercise program. Do not let high temperatures stand in the way of your personal fitness – follow these five basic suggestions from an Atlanta fitness instructor to beat the heat and stay in shape this summer.

Atlanta personal trainers aims to create a pleasant environment with personalized exercise spaces, supportive and knowledgeable staff, and a special ‘un-gym’ feel, and also showcase a 360-degree approach to weight loss in an appealing environment. Atlanta fitness frequently gives every member with custom-made nutrition and fitness.

Many homeowners who generally do their own yard work may think that they prune or remove a tree on their own, but the reality of the scenario is that these aren’t do-it-yourself jobs. For the sake of your personal safety, the safety of your property, and the health of your trees, you need to often contact a trained arborist or a expert tree service organization for these tasks.

Prevent Injury

There are lots of hazards involved in working with trees. Chainsaws, as an example, are extremely dangerous, and can effortlessly lead to injury. In situations where the tree being trimmed or removed is near a power line, there’s also a very real risk of electrocution. Finally, there’s also the chance of falling. Professional tree removers have the equipment and experience required to safely trim or remove your tree while avoiding these dangers.

Prevent Property Damage

A typical reason for tree or limb removal is to stop damage to your residence or nearby power lines. Even so, in the event you attempt the removal yourself without hiring a professional, things can get out of control, and a limb may fall and trigger the damage that you were trying to stop. If you do manage to remove the tree successfully, what will you do with the stump? Professional tree service firms have stump grinders and chipping equipment, allowing them to remove the tree in its entirety with out leaving a stump as an eyesore in your yard.

Maintain Your Trees Healthy

Tree trimming carried out correctly is not harmful to the tree, and can offer numerous advantages. Nevertheless, pruning that is completed incorrectly can put unnecessary stress on the tree and invite disease and infection. Pruning should often be carried out by an experienced professional who knows the trimming techniques that are best for the tree’s health.

Tree service Atlanta are skilled in tree removal, storm damage response, and tree trimming. Outdoors plants and trees need to be monitored and maintained throughout the year. Atlanta tree servicel uses only the very best arboricultural techniques to keep your trees and plants looking their best. They’re specialized for your year-round tree and plant needs.

I call it the reality check guide because no amount of engineering brilliance or perfect instructions is going to show you how to actually install your baby car seat into your car. Sure the instructions are well written and the process seems straight forward enough, but the manufacturers fail to take something major into account.

The thing they forget is the most obvious one – cars. They come in all shapes and sizes and this means that the seats on which you are installing your infant car seat are also different shapes and sizes. This means that your baby capsule or seat never quite fits how it should.

There are services that can install your baby car seat for you but I recommend learning how to do it yourself. Not only do you save your money, but at some point you are going to have to remove the car seat for cleaning so you may as well learn how to do it right the first time.

There have been a lot of car seat models and a lot of different cars over the years, and I have had to install and remove the car seat in each one on many occasions. What I have learned is that each situation calls for a different approach, and only through trial and error have I figured out what works best. I give you my best tips.

The services that install your carseat always seem to make the seat fit snug when you leave, but soon after you notice how unsecure it feels, and that is why I am against these install services

In some cases, like with my old Volvo for instance- the seat will fit perfectly the moment you install it, and in this case you are laughing. You have the perfect car and baby seat combination and nothing further needs to be done. If this is not the case however, read on.

The Towel is the answer or modification you need and this usually stops the seat from wobbling too much, which is of course the problem you are encountering. But sometimes there is a more obvious fix.

The reason the infant car seats do not fit the car is because of the backseat, and the angle in which the seat and the backrest meet. Because there is a natural curve to the shape of the back of a baby seat, if the angle and curve do not match, the capsule seat will wobble no matter how well you install it.

The obvious fix comes from looking at the seat itself and more so the rocker bar at the back. A lot of the toddler seats have these to allow the seat to incline more or less and by simple removing this completely, you take any and all wobble out of the seat, allowing it to be installed more securely.

There are many guides on how to install an infant or child car seat, but it really comes down to following the instructions and if there is still some wobble in the seat, applying a bit of logic and a towel or two. Always keep the child’s health and safety in mind and keep within the law as well of course.

The Baby car seat is an essential item in the long list of must haves when preparing for your new baby, but something that is never taken into consideration is the covering and cleaning of this car seat.

Most children’s toys and accessories come with rain covers and protective items designed to keep them clean and sanitized, and this is because it is a known fact that children and especially babies are very messy. As a parent I noticed that the baby car seat seems to be the exception to the rule and at no stage are you offered any kind of extra cover or protective sheet for it. Yet this is the place your baby spends the most time, so doesn’t it make sense that you should get a cover for it?

Infant Car Seat Covers come in a variety of styles, designed to fit nearly all models and brands. You can see the full range of baby car seat Covers, including the Graco Baby Car Seat Covers here. But keep reading if you want more reasons as to why you need to cover your new infant car seat or baby capsule.

Ever tried removing the factory cover from your child seat? Let me tell you that it is a very frustrating exercise that involves removing the entire seat and then undoing all the latches and buckles from the underside. Buying an extra cover is not just for the protection of the seat, it is for your sanity too.

The different covers available for your baby car seat are varied depending on the needs, and whether you have a child in toilet training and need a piddle pad, or you just want to spruce things up a little and add a splash of fun or color – there is a cover available to suit your needs.

The Best thing about the additional cover is that they are a lot easier to take on and off. Not only do they look great and add color to the backseat, they also are available in a large variety of ‘branded’ covers, including ‘Toy Story 3′ and other popular culture characters and ‘TV Shows’ – so there is definitely something for everyone

A Baby car seat cover is not just for aesthetics at all. The amount of bacteria and germs that can build up under the buckles and latches from all the food being dropped and vomit being expelled is not nice to think about, and having a cover, whether it is for looks or protection will always provide a much safer and more hygienic place for your child in the long run.

Baby Car Seats come in a huge range of shapes and sizes but the one thing that will never change is how messy children are. Thankfully, the range of car seat covers and protectors also come in a large range to match all major styles and brands. Keeping you car seat clean and your baby happy has never been easier.
